Scrap 4 MS 2011 raised over $800 for MS Research, with only 13 Scrapbookers. Anticipating 40 Scrapbookers this year our goal is to more than double that number at $2000 for MS Research.

Q. Where will my money go?
A. The funds raised from Scrap 4 MS will be donated directly to MS Research in Toronto, to help find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis.
Q. What is Multiple Sclerosis?
A. Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic condition that affects the central nervous system. This system includes the brain and spinal cord. It contains the nerves that control everything your body does, such as thinking, feeling, seeing, smelling, tasting, and moving. MS affects about 1 in 1,000 people and usually appears between the ages of 20 and 40, although it may occur at any age.
People without MS have nerves that are covered by an intact protective layer known as the myelin sheath. This covering helps to speed electrical signals in the brain. With MS, researchers think that the myelin sheath somehow becomes inflamed and damaged in small patches. It is not known what chain of events starts this damage, but once the injury occurs, electrical signals in the brain are slowed down.
It is believed that MS is an autoimmune disease (a condition in which an individual’s immune system starts reacting against his or her own tissues) and cannot be spread from person to person. For unknown reasons, the immune system sees the myelin sheath as foreign and attacks it.
Q. What is included in the crop?
A. All meals, snacks and drinks are provided. (These are done through other fundraising so your donation goes directly to MS). House of Scraps, will be our onsite store. Other vendors such as Stamping Up! and Creative Memories will be there for all your needs. Games and door prizes. Raffle tickets will be available for additional purchase to enter draws at our prize table. There will be a tool table set up for you to use.
Q. What do I need to bring?
A. You need to bring your scrapbook materials that you need to work on your projects, your basic tools/supplies, a sweater in case you get cold, any additional drinks or snacks if you desire, if you have any very strict dietary requirements, you may be asked to provide your own food. We have a microwave and fridge available for your use. A smile!
Q. Is there stairs?
A. There are a few stairs but we are wheel chair accessible for easy access!
Q. Do I need to bring money?
A. Your registration will already be paid, however we will have raffle tickets for sale and accept cash only. House of Scraps will accept Cash and Debit. Also bring any spare change you may have, nickles, dimes, pennies, quarters… We will be filling a jar, if the jar gets filled everyone will receive 5 extra raffle tickets!!!
